“Savor the SESH”

Photographer: @BlueOleander420 on IG & Model @RoxyG2013 on IG

Aroma, flavor, and aesthetics of excellent flower has transformed drastically through the ages.  Taking time to savor your sesh is the least you can do for yourself and your showy buds.  We like to do this by intentionally approaching our sesh to maximize the high vibes. Honey Blunts are a lip smackin way to slow down your flowers burn time so that you can really get the most out of getting in the flow.  Put on your favorite music or comedy, chill to your favorite song, or whatever you do to settle into your groove. All this while knowing that your blunt will still be lit right where you left off.

Here’s how to make your own Honey Blunt

  1. Flatten your Blunt wrapper (Hemp, Tobacco, etc).
  2. Grind up your favorite smoking herbs and place them in your wrapper.
  3. Roll up that Blunt! Just before you would lick it, dab a thin layer of MAAT Honey across your closure to seal it up.
  4. Enjoy your Honey Blunt right away! Or allow the honey to dry and cure for later.
  5. (Optional) Use the remainder of your Honey to make a libation of your choice.
  6. Try our Breath of Life Herbal tea to soothe your throat as you savor your Sesh.

You’re invited to add something sacred to your sesh by trying the following:

  • Breathe in “Health and Healing”.
  • Breathe out “Negative Energy”.
  • Repeat: “I am Breathing Alignment into my body”
  • As the smoke swirls around you, know that, there are no accidents in a universe ruled by divine order. Allow and Align.

Immune Boosting “Hot Toddy” Recipe

Relief is available in the most practical places. One of my favorite ways to enjoy is to pair it with Comfort and great memories.  A favorite childhood memory was sipping my grandmas Hot Toddies while bundled up in a comfy blanket.  The hot toddies were always fragrant, warm, and I always felt better after having one followed by a night of restful sleep.  Grandma only issued these hot toddies when I was sick, so they were very special and rare.  As an adult I can have hot toddies whenever i’d like and as a cannabis advocate I never forget to add the BUZZ!

Adding MAAT Apothecary’s Cannabis infused Spiced Honey has been my addition to this tradition and I want you to try it and share with your loved ones.  Why?  Because local honey has hella benefits!  Honey has been used since antiquity by our ancestors for it’s ability to boost immunity, soothe the throat, ease coughing, as well as for other health benefits associated with it’s Anti-Oxidants, Anti-Inflammatory, and Anti-Bacterial properties.  Honey is also a fantastic natural sweetener that can enhance the flavor of your foods & beverages.  This is very likely why ancestors combined it with citrus in the Hot Toddy to facilitate the healing process.  Citrus fruits like Lemon, Orange, Lime, and Grapefruit contain “Vitamin C” which is an essential nutrient that’s important for proper immune function.  It’s also an antioxidant like honey and is involved in aiding the repair of body tissues.

The entourage of healing and relaxation in every Hot Toddy is undeniable. We hope it becomes a staple medicinal drink in your household that makes it easier for you to reach your wellness goals and keep your immunity boosted!

Check out our step by step tutorial here!  Get creative and be sure to tag us @MAATApothecaryCa while you prepare and enjoy your Hot Toddy!

Sweet, Spicy, and Delicious Sorrel Recipe.

Let Food be thy Medicine

Allow yourself to be transported to the Tropics through the power of your taste buds by enjoying our version of an Island favorite.  Sorrel, is a well known Caribbean refreshment that is a standard at gatherings, on warm days, or “Just Because”!  If your taste buds are delighted by the tart flavor of Hibiscus flowers, you’ll be blown away by the added essence of ginger & cinnamon spice added to your drink courtesy of our Infused Spiced Honey.

Sorrel’s main ingredient, Hibiscus, is filled with antioxidants, and has been traditionally used to support heart health, cholesterol, UTI’s, and blood pressure balance.  You may have heard of this low calorie drink by it’s other name variations such as Agua de Jamaica, Roselle, or Guinea Sorrel.  Clove provides sorrel with some of it’s spice and has been known to support metabolism by regulating appetite, aiding in pain relief thanks to the compound eugenol, and remineralizing the body.  Just one teaspoon of clove contains more than 50% of your FDA daily recommended intake of the bone building nutrient Manganese!

Try our Sorrel recipe today!

Sorrel Recipe

Single Cup Serving

Ingredients:

1 teaspoon Hibiscus flowers (Hibiscus sabdariffa)

Pinch of 1 ground Clove

1 ground Cardamom pod

1 strip of Orange Peel

Pinch of 1 ground star Anise

1-2 teaspoons of MAAT Apothecary’s  Infused Spiced Honey (Currently Available at these retailers)

Instructions:

Bring water to a rolling boil.

Add Sorrel herbs to a mesh strainer or muslin

Pour 1 cup of boiling water over your Sorrel herbs

Allow to steep for 5 to 10 minutes (tartness and other flavors will increase with infusion time)

Strain Sorrel

Add a teaspoon or 2 of spiced honey to taste, stir and enjoy!

*Sorrel will remain fresh & safe for approximately 3 days refrigerated

These delicious all natural ingredients have the potential to deliver a number of benefits.  However, several factors such as each user’s age, health, and other conditions will require you to research how each ingredient will interact with your current lifestyle. Avoid consuming more than 3 cups/500 grams of sorrel per day.
